NEW SYDNEY FISH MARKET (nSFM) PROJECT UPDATE: COOLING TOWERS

The team at Equilibrium Air Conditioning are thrilled to announce that our stainless-steel induced draft cooling towers, vital to the nSFM project’s central cooling infrastructure, are now on site. These towers are the final stage in rejecting heat from the HVAC systems that power the market’s essential cool rooms and freezers.

This achievement underscores the successful collaboration between ECJV (Equilibrium and Climatech Joint Venture) and Marley Cooling Towers. Together, we’ve designed and selected the optimal systems to manufacture and deliver these robust cooling towers, custom-tailored to meet the unique needs of the nSFM.

In partnership with Multiplex, we’ve designed and constructed the original design from an ammonia-cooled CO2 system to a state-of-the-art brine system. This strategic upgrade is in line with Infrastructure NSW’s (iNSW) objectives and is expected to significantly reduce both running energy costs by 4-40% annually and our carbon footprint.

Cooling towers are crucial in our HVAC efficiency, removing unwanted heat through water evaporation and significantly lowering water temperatures. The system cools spaces by transferring heat from evaporators or air handling/fan coil units to a chilled water/brine circuit. This heat is then expelled to the ammonia plant and ultimately rejected to the condenser water system, culminating in the release of heat to the atmosphere via the cooling towers on the roof.

Stay tuned for more innovative updates from nSFM!
